I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, registered nurse, student, friend and the list continues. As you may have read on the home page, I started this blog to address some of the issues that blended “first families” may encounter and…well…all things in life that need to be talked about as well. I had my first child out-of-wedlock at age 19. I married my husband at 22 and had two beautiful daughters… and two sons (who we lost during pregnancy.) Maybe someday I will write a blog about my angel boys to address the emotions that women face during times of loss that no one talks about. (Mental note made on this one!) 3 years ago, through a very roundabout strange situation, we acquired another child. She was 16 when she came to live with us. So, when I describe our blended family, these are the words that I use..”Yours, mine, ours and someone elses.” If that isn’t the epitome of blended, I am not sure what is?? My husband adopted my son when he was two and has served as his father in every way. This doesn’t mean that we don’t face our own strange challenges in our blended family world. My goal is to shed light on our challenges and to help others who may be in a similar situation. I hope it helps!
